For the regular Windows user, the Notepad and the WordPad software applications are more than enough to satisfy their basic text editing needs. For that reason, they may not feel any sort of incentive to leave them behind and switch to something better like Win32Pad. But programmers and other users that work with code on a regular basis will want to make the switch. This is because Win32Pad has been developed with programmers and code writers in mind.

With that in mind, Win32Pad has several interesting bits and pieces to offer. It starts with the basic editing tools you can expect to get with text editing programs – features like Word Wrap, Find, Replace, Cut, and Paste – and starts building upon them. Win32Pad offers things like unlimited file size, recent file list, file change notification, WIN/MAC/UNIX format support, and more.

One of the tings I’ve always found annoying about Notepad and WordPad is the fact that they do not support URLs. Paste URLs into these basic text editing tools and they look just like all the rest of the text. Win32Pad is different. It support URLs, meaning it will automatically highlight them. Click an URL and your browser will launch and direct you to that webpage.

Win32Pad is free to use and does not require installation. After you download the software application, you need only launch the executable – you don’t have to install anything. If you like Win32Pad and would like to take it with you, simply put the executable on an USB stick and take it with you. Since Win32Pad does not have to be installed, this is always an option.
